11- Doc Cam

  • For those who prefer traditional teaching instruments or want to provide other interactive ways to teach , all of the AV Systems that our department supports have document cameras integrated in our podiums. This allows instructors the flexibility of projecting handwritten or printed documents, as well as small objects. These are especially neat for zooming in on maps, scientific samples, quizzes, highlighting specific items in an article and drawings of all sorts.
  • To access the document camera, open the small rectangular door that can be found on one of the two short sides of the podium.
  • Pull out the tray, and then grab this little latch over here and raise it up. Then rotate the head, so that the camera lens faces the white working surface right here.
  • To project from the document camera, press the document camera button on the Touch Panel.

Controlling the document camera is very straightforward. On the touch panel we have buttons to zoom in and zoom out.  Otherwise, there is a scroll wheel on the top of the head, which is handy, since it’s a lot closer than the Touch Panel. There is also an auto focus button which is usually on, though if you really want to control the focus or the iris yourself, you have the freedom to do that. Though I think most people are happy just leaving auto focus on.

Anyway, when you are done with the document camera, just do the reverse that we did earlier. Fold the head so the Lens faces the audience, and then gently lower the arm into the work surface area, and push the tray back into the podium like this.
