What it is:
The White board camera source in Morgridge Hall classrooms (B2550, B2590, 1570, 1524, 2516, 2532) will highlight handwriting on the sections of White board the camera focuses on and will display the highlighted content on the displays in the room. It’s a video source just like any other in the AV system that can be displayed and recorded by the Lecture Capture Recorder.
What it is not:
It is not handwriting extraction. You are not able to get a transcript of the handwriting in a separate document nor highlight or manipulate the handwriting any further than this technology allows.
Best use case:
In a large auditorium where handwriting on the white boards may be hard to see from seating in the back of the room. Using the “White board camera” on a primary or secondary display will help enhance the handwriting by projecting it onto highly visible displays. Lecture capture recording: In an instructional course that uses a lot of live white board use. Using the “White board camera” as video along with audio to the Lecture Capture recorder will give the students a resource to review material covered in class.
